Smokey-Mushroom Staircase

This is a part of my Photography final. This is the many adventures of Smokey the Hamster as she explores the world around her.

Even nature has its luxuries... We saw this and Smokey just haaaaad to stand on them.

Smokey was once a real dwarf hamster, and the sweetest hamster we had ever owned. The ceramic hamster was exactly the right color (despite glazes) and about the right size. It was part of a larger sculpture I had made a couple years ago, but I had the foresight to make her removable. Even though she's been gone quite a while, now (though she was alive when I made the piece) I still miss her.

So why not remember her by continuing to depict her?

So, I made my series about her, and, despite the snobbery toward non-conceptual art in the department, the series was quite popular. Even the teacher wanted to see were Smokey was going next. Go figure.

So why is there an uneven black border around the shot? It proves that the picture has been uncropped. And, save for putting in my name to sign it, the piece has been unmodified digitally. Some of my pieces have been burned and dodged in the studio (thus making one of a kind originals), and some have had increased contrast.

Every black and white photo you see from me was hand-developed from start to finish. No Walmart or Click Camera. I developed the film and each print.

And I'm so glad I no longer have to smell like those chemicals anymore. Yuck.
